How to Balance Work and Family Time with a Busy Spouse?

Hubby and I have been arguing the past couple days about the fact that he’s never home. He works so much and does so many activities that I see him for maybe 3 hours a day. I’m exhausted and frustrated and just want him home to help me.

My hubby is gone 6am-630pm and then goes to bed at 9. It stinks. But at least he gets weekends off

Does he get any days off? I know the feeling. My hubby is gone 12 hours a day and then is in bed not long after we eat dinner. He only gets one day off too. 😧 it sucks but we wouldn't be able to afford to live if he didn't work.

We work total opposite schedules . Nights for him , days for me so we sleep at different times. I’m lucky because I have my parents and in laws close by. Some of you ladies have it a lot tougher! I feel for u

This is a really tough position for both of you to be in. On the one hand, you need him physically present for both you and your baby, and on the other hand, he needs/feels the need to provide.

I think it is so important for both parents to be involved in their child’s life as much as possible. If you can get by without the extra money from extra shifts/jobs, then I say it’s worth it to stay home more. However, if that isn’t an option, you will need to reach out to loved ones for help and support during this time. Being exhausted and frustrated will only hinder your experiences with your child, so don’t be afraid to ask for help around you. Your health, wellbeing, and sanity are crucial for not only yourself but also for the way you take care of your child. It all goes hand-in-hand.

I felt the same way. My husband works away. And is only home on weekends. It used to be every other weekend. When he’s Home he dedicates his time to us. We ended up moving away from his crazy ass family, closer to my family. It’s saved our relationship. So we do lots of play dates and my family comes to visit and we do things together. I try not to sit around the house all day otherwise I’ll end up depressed and lonely.
