So Nate is 5 months as of August 16th. His pediatrician told me at his 4 month appt that I should start feeding him cereal and to introduce him to a new food each week. I feel like this is early. Is everyone else being told similar things?

@fakoffyeh he can but I still have to watch him because after a bit he will fall to one side or the other. I had thought it was 6 mths as well.

We did cereal at night before bed at 4 months then started introducing foods at 5 months. By 6 months we were doing baby led weaning.

@k_nc thanks. I have to look into baby led weaning. I've been hearing a lot about it lately.
Katie·
@mct, it was awesome for us! So much easier in my opinion, but my son refused baby food after 6 months and formula after 7 months

4 month is early, if he grows fine, you can just breastfeed him :) with our kids we usually cooked food and let them taste (and since last year they say you can use spices, just not salt or very little) and our last one was supposed to get a taste... he then just wanted more and more... so we let him eat :D spices help with the foods too, as they get them from breast and also it tastes better to everyone :) and they don't have to get used to them anymore...

@k_nc I can see that coming with mine too. We tried rice cereal and bananas and all of a sudden he only wants food from a bowl. That's part of what made me worry! Sounds like baby led weaning may be the best plan
MoT·
@muksu thanks!
Katie·
@mct, oh then I would say definitely look into it! Sounds like he’s ready to try! Definitely look to see what to start with since he’s so young but I’m sure he’ll do great with it

Do what you feel is right. The recomendation is food at 6 months. We waited to 5.5months to introduce cereal and foods. We did let him taste before that which was fun but never more than a taste.

Aww, so cute! And yeah I was told that too but my son took really good to it. Good luck! 😊

what are actually thise cereals? we started with sweet potato with the first 1... with the others we just started with the food we where eating, like rice and veggies and meat... never ever baby food from store... never ever really mushed food... just small bits and pieces and it worked all fine... I mean anchesters couldn't blend the food either and prechewing doesn't make it that fine either... also I guess they would breastfeed much longer... but that's how feel about it :)
muksu·
@mct by the way, what is your name supposed to mean... I knew one mct oil, but do you mean that? or is it sonething else?
MoT·
@muksu the cereal is just rice cereal. With my daughter we waited a lot longer because she was breastfed but with my son I wasn't able to feed him so I figure he isn't getting anything that great from the special formula he is on due to milk allergies. Mct is my initials, nothing special.
muksu·
@mct do cereals mean like stuff that you eat with milk??? and yeah if he has only formula, then it's better to start them on real food earlier... I think we started with the twins also earlier as breastfeeding didn't work... and had still the bottle milk for them... then we noticed that it's the same as milk, so we switched completely to real milk :D they where over a year by that time... ok mct oil is not much known I guess, but would have been interesting if it was that... check paleo or bulletproof ;) I say only buttercoffee ♡♡♡♡♡

@muksu I actually just started keto like 3 weeks ago and that's when I discovered mct oil and the initials
muksu·
I see :D
