Another post... my daughter is 6 months and shes so dang fussy all the time. She may be teething but I can't tell for sure or not. Her gums seen a bit swollen but nothing has popped through. I cant put her down for more then a minute because she just cries. If I am able to put her down, it'll last a a few minutes and back to crying. Shes not easy to get to nap and then when she does, she has to be held or else shes wakes up. I literally can't get anything done. Just recently moved and still have unpacking to do but I cant even get through a box without her crying. My first was never like this, he was such a easy going baby. McKenna on the other hand, is what they call a hard to handle baby and I'm not really sure what to do at this point. Its frustrating because I'm surrounded by boxes and clutter and that makes me crabby and then I cant even do something about it. I've posted things similar to this so many times but I'm at lost at what to do. I thought things were suppose to get easier at this age. 😭 shes been this way since she was born.

Lily is just like this . She doesn’t have a set nap time when she does she has to full asleep on the boob if I put her down drowsy like they say she just gets super pissed . At night we have some good times where she sleeps 4 hr straight other night she’s protests the crib and will alone sleep next to me . It got so bad my husband sleeps in the spare room bc he needs sleep for work . The only difference between the 2 are I know Lily is teething she has 2 broken through and another 2 on the top coming through . I guess I’m really no help but to see I know what your going through last night I was up almost every hour with her

Some babies you just have to put down and let them cry for a couple minutes she is used to crying and you picking her up so now she will keep doing it I went through it with my first but she is at that age now make sure she is change fed and safe and let her cry for a few minutes even if your sitting right there give her some baby toys and just talk to her without picking her up it will be the only way to break her or if your not okay with that baby wear her so you can get some unpacking done

I’m also going through this now with my second it sucks but it is helping

@alishap1212 it's so tough! The only way McKenna will nap too is on the boob. If I try and lay her down drowsy, like our dr has told us, she just freaks out and gets even more awake. She typically sleeps fine at night but days are hard. I'm just exhausted.

I don’t have any great words of advice, but I’m sending you some strength and a hug.

My son was difficult to get down for naps and wanted to nurse frequently and it was so draining. He hated bottles and it wasn’t until closer to 8-9 months where he would happily go to bed for anyone other than me.

Have you looked up high needs babies?

https://www.thefussybabysite.com/high-need-baby-resource-guide/

Reading that article when I was in the trenches with my son didn’t fix everything over night, but it made me fell less alone. Made me feel more okay with taking a deep breath, having a cry if I needed it. It helped me give myself “permission,” in a sense, to worry less about the house.

Hang in there, you’ve got this, and even if you sit in pjs all day snuggling your littles, you’re still a great momma.

@mombie. I've been trying to do that more and more with her. Just let her sit with her toys and fuss a bit because I do believe the reason she does it, is she just wants to be held and close to me. It works at times and then others it doesnt. I'll usually pick her up if shes full blown crying but otherwise I'll let her fuss.

@humblewarriormama thank you! I appreciate your words a lot. I've looked into it a little but not much. I'll read the article you shared though. 😊

@lolnic0le.bb, the same thing happens to us the dr says stop her toward the end of the feeding she shld be drowsy lay her down and she shld be able to snuggle in to sleep . Only thing that’s happened is wakes even more . I have tried multiple time and multiple different times of the day it just doesn’t work for us

@lolnic0le.bb, hopefully within time it helps I started it 2 days ago and he will be okay for about 5-15 minutes than he’s mad but better than nothing before he would just scream but he is teething and having tummy problems so sometimes is hard to tell if he just wants held or it he is really hurting

@mombie., you’re welcome! I don’t remember when I first heard the phrase, but I know learning about a high needs baby helped me realize I wasn’t doing anything wrong. All the other women I knew with kids seemed to have such a different, easier, experience and reading about high needs babies really stopped me from making so many comparisons and just focused on what felt right for us.

@humblewarriormama, absolutely I just feel like a horrible mom lately and I’m failing miserable my youngest has never been much of a sleeper from the moment he was born doctors were even amazed but the last week even tired he is impossible to get to sleep like today it took 1.5 to get him to fall asleep for a nap and he was beyond tired not like I’m forcing him to sleep and he doesn’t sleep more than 20-40 minutes and the last week he goes to bed between 8-10 and is up for the day between 1-3am until 5-6 and it’s really getting to me and I’m beyond frustrated but the article helped a lot and he has the other things to he has to be busy all the time not with toys but something musical and lights and his brothers running around keeping him busy I just hope once he learns to sit up and crawls it will help a lot he hates laying down and not being able to see absolutely everything going on

@mombie., you’re a great mom because you care and are there trying even when you’re frustrated. The sleep thing is so hard though, I get it! We’d rock my son for twice as long as he’d sleep and I was beyond defeated.

Have you tried a jumpy or exersaucer with your youngest? It turned out to be a lifesaver for us with our son. He could bounce and be upright and see everyone. Some of them have lights and music too. Also helped to get some of his energy out. Wish I could post a video, he’d just go to town.

@humblewarriormama, thank you! yeah the sleeping part is what is really getting to me right now its very hard I have to rock him now and he is refusing our room where I’ve always put him to bed in there because it is quiet without the other three boys running around screaming.. we have a bouncer which he use to love and now not so much he will eat in it sit for about 5 minutes than he is throwing a fit and he has a jumper which he isn’t a fan of but I think he is finally coming around to it he was just in it jumping and playing and watching his brother for about 40-60 minutes i think which was the longest he has ever been in it than he threw a fit and he is back to rolling around but I got all the cleaning done so it was plenty enough for me our house was to dirty for me which make me stress even more lol
