Both of my kids used walkers and they loved them and they were not delayed in motor skills, walking, anything. Never even heard of this. Also, they’re only dangerous if you use them inappropriately or don’t take the necessary precautions if you have stairs or other hazards. I do agree that they should be able to sit up on their own before using.

I'd recommend an exersaucer since it's a bit safer than a walker. My son loved his at that age.
