Moms that had babies about 20 months apart or so, please tell me your experiences?! I’m so nervous my son will not take this well. He stays home with me all day, I’m afraid he will be super jealous. I’m also worried that I won’t get a lot of bonding time with her once she’s here. Any advice or experiences please! 😞

So my experience so far I have a 17 month old son my baby is about 8 days old and he wanted to love on her when we brought her home but since she's been home you can tell he's trying to act out more than usual just to get attention and it breaks my heart because I want to show him you know just as much love as I do her so I'm still trying to adjust to all this and we'll see where it goes from here

@momtwo4, that’s what I’m worried about 😩 And I want to breastfeed her, but I feel like it’s going to be impossible with him always hanging all over me.😞 I’m so depressed just thinking about this

My 2nd son and daughter are 21 months apart and it was really rough for a while (some days still are). He was super jealous and clingy. He cried when she cried, wanted to be held when I was holding her. It was tough, but it gets better. I let him "hold her" a lot, give her kisses, bring me her diapers. Things to make him feel included. Now he LOVES her and seems to understand she needs a little more attention than him. When she cries he runs to me and will yell "baby crying, you ok babygirl?" It's amazing to see the bond they are already creating. Are you a single mom?

My first has been very helpful but also still doesn't understand certain concepts like the baby is sleeping so whisper (whisper seems to mean say whisper in a low voice but yell everything else). So I have to really watch my first closely around my infant. My first loves to give the baby kisses and doesn't care that we kiss the baby. Helps me with BFing and I'll occasionally tandem feed. I am able to bond with both greatly here. Does your son know you're pregnant? Like do you talk about your growing belly with him? Does he say anything? Has he been around other babies?

@jleona, awww!! That makes me feel better. I’m not a single mom, but my husband is a firefighter so he’s not home much. It’s mainly me by myself ALOT! My brother just had a baby and anytime I try to hold her he gets super fussy and wants me to hold him too. So I put him on my lap with her and he tries to hit her on the head and stuff. If he’s holding her himself he’s fine! He doesn’t like me holding her.

@wolfnurturer, he ALWAYS lifts up my shirt and points to my belly and says “sissy” and he loves to go in her room and look at her clothes and bows. He’s around 2 newborns that are his cousins that are girls, but he’s very rough with them. He try’s to hit them on the head when I’m holding them. If he’s holding them himself, he does okay. He’s just rough sometimes. And if I’m holding them then he starts to get fussy until I put them down and hold just him.

@abourgeois14 my son use to get super jealous when I held other babies, but once he realized she was here to stay I think it changed. Don't stress too much girl, things might take time but your son will grow into the idea of having a little sister.

@jleona, thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

@abourgeois14 that's cute! My first used to say hey baby and kiss my belly everyday then the last two weeks she would do that and say get lol. My first is pretty rough too which is why I keep my eyes on her. She knows gentle but sometimes just get too excited. My first sometimes wants me to pick her up when I'm holding my infant but doesn't go all crazy on me if I don't. I feel it's a process though and keeping patience. I don't feel overwhelmed with two so close in age but one needs more than the other and I try to keep my self available for my first while handling my second.

@abourgeois14 yes he is very clingy too and I'm trying my hstdedt to make him not feel pushed aside if that makes sense . because he's not. He's still my baby . I'm breast feeding as well .

My last two are 30 months apart and she has her moments of wanting to be a baby but I find that letting her help and hold him so she feels included helps a lot.
