How do you give birth without medication? I’m interested in trying to go without.
What worked for me was focusing on the fact that the pain is temporary. That the goal, having an alert, healthy baby, was achievable by dealing with some pain.
With that said, I also had high BP, was on magnesium and after my water broke was confined to my bed so they could monitor him the whole time. So the pain was even worse because I couldn't move. I didnt speak for hours.
When they told me it was time to push, so much relief and adrenaline flooded through me I barely remember the pain. I was so happy that I was at that point that it energized me to "push through" the birth.
I suppose it’s all about mental preparation and believing u can do it ... x
@lauracbaby2, thanks for posting this . I was going to post this same question . I plan to deliver naturally as well 🙏🏾
@ari., my water broke and that’s how I went into labor. He came early, was my first, and I massively underestimated the pain associated with labor. So when it happened I totally panicked. If I have more babies I definitely would like to try again without meds. Hearing other women get through it is empowering
You just decide to do it, then do it. Learn about all the natural pain relief methods, birthing positions/birthing methods. Write a natural birth plan!!!! Hand to all nurses, stick to the walls, the bed, put one in your vagina and if you want to go natural make sure you and everyone knows it! It's not hard, women been doing it decades before us.
@ari., I’m not even lying when I tell you I didn’t feel it. The pain from the contractions was so strong that I really only felt a little pressure, and it was fast. Was your water broken when you started contractions? My midwife tried to tell me my contractions were more painful because my water had broken, but I think she was just trying to make me feel better 😂
@fakoffyeh, lol I had the same thing happen, I got to the hospital and 30 minutes later she was born. There was no time. At the moment they said I couldn’t have an epidural I was totally devastated, but I do have to say that it is totally amazing how the body works and how the pushing experience was like amazingly better this around.
@ari., I have a needle phobia and I still asked for the epidural. I was legit crawling out of my skin trying to find a way to get through contractions, they were less than a minute apart so no relief 😩 you all are tough, for real
@yvelid, you should be proud of yourself! Labor pain sucks but it’s definitely bearable.
Easily... tell them you don’t want any meds... focus on your breathing and be realistic about the pain. I’ve done it 2x.. I will be going natural again this time.
My 1st pregnancy I did meditation labor...if i can remember the book i read on it i would tell u. But its like a 5 week process of preparing yourself. It trains you to mentally push your pain to the ends of ur body...so basically I would imagine my pain leaving my body threw my finger tips.
