Hello ladies! I’m just wondering what some neat things some of you do to get your girls interested…

Some kids just don’t like math. I never did never will. Nothing helped. It was hard for me to comprehend so I just didn’t enjoy it.

@jellybeans33, I don’t care if she likes it. It’s too important of a skill for her to not be good at especially if she’s to go into STEM.

But that’s what we’re saying. Lol math isn’t easy for everyone and some of us just don’t get it the way others do. You could literally pay me to try and do math problems and not only would I not be able to solve most of them but I’d hate it. The best thing you can do is be encouraging and positive. Math sucks a giant penis.

@mathmom what if she doesnt want to go into STEM? Why would you want to foster something she doesnt care for or seems uninterested in? It's an important skill to have for the basics. Beyond that how much math beyond the basics do you use in everyday life unless your professional career calls for you to need it. I went to a math and science high school and I hate math. The only thing that ever got me interested was when I found a love of architecture and even then I only focused on on architectural math.

My advice is to promote her natural strengths and not try to force her to love it. Maybe you can try some math games and things like that to make it more entertaining. However, if math isn’t something she’s interested in, or maybe not great at- I doubt the mathematical portion of stem will appeal to her. I am AMAZING in all things science but I hate math. I have to really focus and can do it but it’s not naturally my gift and I would rather do anything else on earth. I’m a certified holistic wellness coach currently. I am working towards becoming a doctor so I can be a medical examiner. She can be in STEM later even if she always hates math. I am proof of that. Also try not to compare your kids abilities. Everyone on this earth has strengths and weaknesses and no one needs to be compared to the other. It’s apples to oranges
