My little one got circumcised today, the pediatrician told us to let the gauze dry with vaseline on it and wait for it to fall off in the time frame of 24 hours. He gave us instructions as well on a sheet of paper, I'm honestly just so nervous to change him now. I just don't want to harm him while I'm changing him 😕 do you mommas have any good tips with dealing with circumcision
@msbrinkley11 That's completely new to me. Do you think it will heal quicker that way?
@autism.mommy yes I'm in Pennsylvania as well I went to a birth center they used a gauze after he got circumcised and put vaseline on it. I have to wait 24 hours until its completely dry to change it and re apply vaseline
@newlywedmama21 I was thinking they changed seemed like a bunch of moms said the whole Gauze thing was the new healing progress. Maybe, it depends on the Area. I'M in PA
@autism.mommy no gauze here either and my son was just circumcised a few weeks ago .. perfectly healed and fine now
Yeah you’ll go through at least 2 small boxes of gauze. You need a new one every time you change him. It’s scary but he will be fine ❤️
They must be doing it diffenrly than when I had my 3 boy's witch the youngest just turned 21 Month's today. I never ever used gauze on them.
@_sheriee thank you and I made my mom change him 😩😩 I was like helppp please, but I changed him and I feel like I need more gauzes so they can be clean. I just dont want it to get an infection
The doc told me to always use lots of vaseline, so that the gauze doesn't stick to the penis.
Use a decent amount of Vaseline as you don’t want the gauze to stick to his penis and it helps protect it Incase he poops. Make sure to put gauze every diaper change though. Girl I nearly cried during the first change but it healed great, just kept it clean.
@argiemom29 okey dokey and aww thank you 😄 that made me feel a bit better now
@msbrinkley11 you will use a lot of them! It's not necessary to use a lot of Vaseline, but the skin should be protected with the gauze. At least that's what worked for me. And don't be nervous. I think there's no way you can harm him. 😘
Make sure you keep it very clean, but be very gentle. Make sure you vaseline the gauze very good or the gauze will stick to his penis
@autism.mommy I think it will heal in the same time frame but the pediatrician said the bottom part will of course take longer to heal due to how the circumcision takes place
