- My baby shower is at the end of the month & my best friend informed me that she wouldn’t in attendance today. She lives in DC (I live in SC) but we always TRY make it a point to attend big life events. Initially, I didn’t even mention the shower to her because I thought it might be a little much for her & her family to travel my way, esp for just a weekend.. so when she brought up wanting to come, obviously I was ecstatic. We even coordinated a date that would work specifically for her, but now her husband wants to celebrate his 30th birthday in Vegas & since they can’t afford both trips, she’s choosing that over my shower. I’m more hurt than anything because I tried my best to accommodate her schedule & the fact that she isn’t coming now makes me feel like she could care less. I know 30 is a big year & I get that she should be there for her hubby but it still bothers me. Am I wrong for being upset?

I'd be upset, too, especially since originally she had said she was going to your shower.

I would say to her, “I’m really devastated you’re not coming since we worked the days out around your schedule, but I totally understand your spouse comes first & Vegas sounds like fun. Maybe you guys can arrange to come after the baby is born?” Maybe they can stay with you guys to save money since it’s important for you, and more costly for her... I would not hold anything against her though I’m sure she felt really torn and it wasn’t easy for her to make that decision :)

Idk it's a trip for them and if they are like any married couple they don't get to do many vacations together....just my thought I wouldn't be too hard on her

@nomli, right, like I said I wouldn’t have invited her because I know how tight money can be sometimes but she literally invited herself just to cancel..

@kristenap, agreed. I don’t hold it against her, I guess I just wouldn’t have expected her of all people to cancel..but I get it. Can we also put into play that I’m an overly emotional pregnant woman lol? Just venting on here has helped me work things out. Thank you for your input ❤️

@ecahanes, very true. My main issue was the fact that she initiated wanting to come. I know her hubby’s birthday is around the time of my shower so I was honestly surprised when she said she wanted to come. So I felt like I got my hopes up just for them to be crushed back down again..I do understand her side of things though. I had a good cry & now I’m over it.

@t.jen88, I would be upset too, I think you’re completely valid to feel the way you do. Now just enjoy your baby shower and worry about that ☺️💗
