nursing mommas, i need ways to help produce more breastmilk! i’m stressed that my son isn’t getting enough since he’s always wanting to be latched..
i tried pumping and only pumped 1-2 oz and that is with both breasts together. i’m getting worried and don’t want to give up. Please share how you produced more milk, home remedies anything! i have tried a couple of things. no luck i guess i don’t feel a difference. 🤧

It’s normal for babies to constantly want to latch. It doesn’t mean you’re not producing enough. Babies nurse for comfort, not just food. My son is 3.5 months and nurses pretty much every hour, unless he takes a longer nap then it’s 2 hours. I make plenty of milk, actually too much. Don’t worry about how much you pump, just keep feeding your baby. That’s the best way to increase supply.

When I struggled with milk production, I increased my water intake, as well as changed my diet. I begun to eat things high in fiber! I also add chia seeds to my water or to certain things I eat, like yogurt or oatmeal (these also help boost milk supply). Fenugreek and almond milk help me too! Besides diet changes and water intake, I also massage my breasts before and after a feed to loosen up the milk ducts (sometimes your milk ducts can be clogged, causing a difficulty to release any milk).

Babies nurse for comfort too.

Brewers yeast worked the best for me. Or having a beer.

I do have a group for pumping support if you would like to join. I started it for exclusively pumping mama's, but I welcome anyone with pumping knowledge and questions.

thanks so much for that advice. i’m not sure if i have the correct size flanges.. i would have to ask a lactation consult next time at the doctors. i don’t pump often only when i have errands to run and will be away from home for a couple hours just so it’s a bit easier. i drink so much water, it’s all i drink i don’t like soda, and juice every once in a great while. but i’ll have to try gatorade

First of all, don’t panic! Is your son having plenty of wet diapers & does he seem content? Babies can want to nurse often for a variety of reasons that don’t include hunger. Second, when are you pumping? How soon after a feed? That can make a difference in how much you’re able to pump. The size of the flanges can also make a difference on how much you pump. Make sure you have the correct size for your nipple. I was only ever able to pump a few ounces when my son was a newborn because I was breastfeeding him so often. I was able to pump far more when I was away from him during a feed time (at work) or when he went longer stretches between feeds (at about 2-4 months old).

I suggest drinking lots of water. Like an obscene amount of water. Some people find that Gatorade works well too.
