I understand the struggle. I have insurance, but found out since I’m a dependent on my parents t doesn’t cover anything related to pregnancy. Crazy. But I was denied for Medicaid so I had to find a doctor who would work out a self pay plan with me and everything has been straight out of the pocket for us. I’m praying I’m able to get coverage before the hospital stay

Sounds awful...but congratulations. I hope you get approved for insurance. It will all fall into place.

I hope you're able to get covered and @newmock I hope you find insurance before the birth. Our first son I got to see our hospital bill for before insurance covered anything, no complications and an epidural, vaginal birth was over $33,000. Before that I had been under the impression it would closer to $10,000. Independent insurance can be very expensive but may be worth looking in to.

@jessig2006, I tried, but no one will pick me up because I am already pregnant. My work has open enrollment Sept 1 and my due date is Sept 18, so as long as he stays put until after the 1st they say I’ll be able to have my coverage for the hospital stay

This was exactly what I went through with my second pregnancy 🤧 I didn’t qualify for medicaid though so I had to wait until I was 5 months to be seen by an OB. Look for a free clinic for pregnant woman I went to one and got a free ultrasound and they confirmed my pregnancy! Just make sure you start taking your prenatals and try ginger ale for the morning sickness and nausea! That’s the only thing that helped me somewhat. It gets better girl just hold on 💖

I was under my moms insurance till I turned 26. I didn’t know the laws and the change health insurance went through because I didnt follow it. No one ever really told me. When I found out I was pregnant I tried to get Medicaid. They denied me. I went and talked to a health insurance broker because that’s what Medicaid site said to do. I did and she told me flat out no one will give me health insurance because open enrollment isn’t until November and I wouldn’t receive coverage till January 1st. Now I know this issue is my fault for being a shud in with an anxiety disorder. Pregnancy isn’t in the list of “ qualifying special events” that allow you to enroll in health insurance. It depressed me and made me cry countless a lot. We ended up going to a birth center who is willing to do a payment plan with us but the payment plan was too high. After leaving there and talking to them about our situation they gave us some options of where we can possibly receive help. But in the end my boyfriend and I are going to get married soon instead so I can get health insurance. We’ve been together through tough times and we wanted a baby together so it only seemed right to get married too. I really feel like the USA needs to step it up and offer universal health care with the option of buying better coverage through private insurance. So at least poor people like me could get basic care at least.

@deadlylove, I completely agree, I feel like it’s bs that tax payers can cover people who can OD all the time but women who are pregnant and genuinely need medical care it’s like they don’t care and out of all countries you would think America would care. And they don’t. It’s so sad

I went through a similar situation with my first. Just try to rest up until your insurance kicks in. Give them a call if they don’t get back to you.

Anything ginger (tea,candy, ale), psi bands, ice, slushed gaterade and gum all brought some relief.

It’s ok to feel the way you do. The fact is all is changing very fast. Try and educate yourself as much as possible about pregnancy and motherhood.

I'm almost 14 weeks and I felt the exact same and still do sometimes. I applied for Medicaid back in June and just not got accepted 2 days ago. I feel ugly all the time bc I'm to tired to get ready. But remember your gorgeous and your growing a little human inside of you. It will all be worth it in the end. 😊

Hope you feel better soon and can get insurance. I had all day morning sickness until 22 weeks and my doctor had me taking unisom and vitamin b6 which aren’t expensive and can be purchased over the counter. Might be worth asking your doctor about.
