Did labor classes help you threw labor? Do you feel it made a better birthing experience? What do…
Did labor classes help you threw labor? Do you feel it made a better birthing experience? What do you feel helped you the most threw labor? (Classes, videos, books, practices, exercises, etc) amazing how time is flying and I'm prepared for the baby to be here but I am not prepared for getting the baby out! And really need to start getting mentally prepared for this. (If theres no complications I'm praying for an all natural birth!)

If your SO is going to be with you have him learn about birthing techniques and all that. When I went into labor everything I had learned went out the window. My SO couldn't be there, but what helped me the most was my father who sat right next to me and talked me through the entire thing. My mom was incredibly jealous because she said he was useless when she was in labor 😂 but honestly, without him I couldn't have done it. I had no epidural or tearing at all. I'm so grateful he was there.

Look in to hypnobirthing. I also found the book The Calm Birth Method helpful when mentally preparing myself. In the moment, focusing on breathing helped. My husband was also amazing and basically acted as a doula for me. He helped me get in comfortable positions, rubbed my back, held my hand, and cheered me on when I was pushing. A good support person is invaluable.

Deep breathing and lots of positive affirmations is what helped and got me through it. Also, if you haven’t already, check out Ina May Gaskin’s book “Guide to Child Birth”. The first half of the book is all positive natural birth stories. It’s very reassuring. The second explains what to expect during a natural and hospital birth. My SO other was the only person with me and he helped comfort me by getting me ice, grabbing my phone, massaging my feet, etc. I wanted to go natural but ended up getting an epidural, however, the process was still “scary” in the sense that you don’t know what to expect so I literally was telling myself “you can do this” the entire time and it really helped me feel relaxed and in control. If you’re having a hospital birth and they don’t allow you to eat, make sure you eat something before you get there because you’ll need that energy.
