@camsmomma Aww wow they are, that's fast, have you washed or retiwisted since installed? I'm actually about to get more installed this weekend, I cut my hair since the pictures you see - can't wait.
@angelfoodcake, no I haven’t washed or retwisted. My hair is 4c so it’s course and thick which probably contributes. Your hair is so long though! And I sent you a friend request btw
After the ones you see, I actually started freeforming for over a year, then when I got pregnant was going through some emotional stuff and cut them off. Lol. Now I'm getting tired on my hair and have finally learned locs is just the thing for me lol.
Yes @camsmomma I'm supposed to get my hair plated this weekend and I plan to let them loc from there - not freeforming this time, but not getting twisted as much as I did in 2008-2015 either. Trying to reduce the build up from the loc gel.
I loved my hair freeformed, no build up, no retwist, just free! but started to get breakage. So basically just looking for a middle range.
@camsmomma Yes, freeform was no retwist, no gel, letting them "be" for me. However, I started them off with plats again, super mirco sized plats. Also, going to go bigger this time.
@camsmomma The first time 2008-2015 I stared with two strand twists. It took months to bud/loc.
And I think everyone's hair just overall grows at different rates... I think when our hair is locked it grows at its fastest rate because you are not manipulating it much at all, no hair is lost/shedding because it's all matted up within the loc....
I wouldn't recommend dying it - makes it weaker, changes texture, adds build up.
Don't rewist too much, can make it more prone to breakage, add more build up, being you are using gel more every time you retwist.
Don't neglect it too much either, can cause hair to pop off/breakage - lack of retwisting (hence gathering the hair together, which creates the loc)
Use clear products only, can help reduce build up and residue.use less products as possible really.
Also make sure hair is dry after getting it done, helps prevent mold.

Well, the pic above is not from today - but when I cut it in mid April @camsmomma
My stomach is massive now lol, hair a little longer.
Bree 🌻·
@angelfoodcake, are you going to restart them?
angelfoodcake·
This was my hair "freeform" - what I cut off in April this year.
The pictures on my profile are the locs I had from 2007-2015 - which I cut 😣

@angelfoodcake, freeform is when you let them do what they want right?

@angelfoodcake, oh ok. I have so much to learn. What was your secret to helping it grow? You’re going to start with plaits? How’d you start last time

Of course drinking water helps with all things.

@angelfoodcake, this is a lot but I’m definitely taking notes. I’m so excited!
