Tips to get my 2 year old to break his night schedule of breastfeeding to sleep through the night and to go to sleep on his own also looking for tips for when he wakes up in the middle of the night ?.. I have medical reasons why I have to stop breastfeeding without having a chance to pump or anything I had my last session before my surgery now I just want to comfort him but he is mad he can’t breastfeed and doesn’t understand..😭

Believe it or not he does understand. How I did it was I cut out one nursing sesh at a time. Started with the night one, I’d give him his favorite sippy cup with water. And he cried, it’s hard, but he got the hang of it eventually. And then I started weaning from the initial nursing-to-go-to-sleep. I explained to him that my breasts were sleeping and he could not have them right now. And he understood. You can even tell him they’re sick or they have a “booboo” and spread some ginger on them if you want to take it that far. Trust me, they understand more than you think!

We started reading books before bed and singing songs together instead. Sometimes I scratch his back too.

Will he take a cup of water? Maybe substitute. My kids only woke up for the first week of life so I'm not much help
