I kno this may sound like a dumb question but i really need to kno lol.....is it true that if i choose to breastfeed i wont need birth control??? im 29wks and really havn a hard time deciding what birth control method i want to try

Not true!! I breastfed my 19 month old up until a few months ago and I’m due with my daughter anytime now lol definitely isn’t birth control and i didn’t even know i was pregnant until almost the 2nd trimester because i had no symptoms i assume because of breastfeeding. I have 3 boys already and have always known immediately but it definitely wasn’t birth control for me. Good luck!
My mom exclusively breastfed my brother and accidentally conceived me when he was only 3 months old. Birth control/precautions are a must.

@akeraallen3 BC options SUCK for us. I have the Paragard non hormonal IUD I love it but since you had such a bad experience with mirena Id be careful definitely look into it I know I do horrible with hormone based anything so what I have is my best option.

Also a note on the mini pill even while breastfeeding and on mini pill you have to be EXTREMELY dedicated take it every single day within an hour I did every day within 15 minutes as well as spermicide as well as cycle tracking as well as avoiding fertile period and with PCOS and I STILL got pregnant

@haslberry yes idk if she didn't want to be harsh or what i want the truth but in 2012 i got the mirena and had to be removed n 2013 due to complications and my body rejected it so bad i just started getting my periods without the help of provera in 2016 and just got pregnant this year my mom thinks she dont want to give me birth control because of that but im not wanting a back to back pregnancy
My sister got pregnant because she relied on breast feeding to be her BC lol it’s not reliable . I’d deff consider BC, i have the mirena i love it a lot .
Yeah, I'd get a new OB if that's the advice being handed out. No reputable doctor would say that because they know it's not a reliable BC method.
You can definitely conceive while breastfeeding. It didn't impact my cycle much at all. Even on the mini pill, we still used condoms as a backup until we were ready to try again.
It’s not as likely to get pregnant while breastfeeding but, it is definitely still possible. I usually get the mini pill during the first year while breastfeeding.
@denisse.m ok thank you i thought so maybe i need a different OB she claims its not likely i would get pregnant if i breastfeed and it didn't sit right with me
Not true... I breastfeed my 1st n got pregnant when he was 6 months old...
You can still get pregnant. @akeraallen3 It does lessen the chance for the first 6 months if you EBF buuuuut if you aren't wanting kids I wouldn't use that as only BC.
