Does anyone see/or have seen a maternal fetal specialist/perinatologist?...so I understand their job…

I was seeing a high risk mfm for gd. They were very good and everything was in the best interest for my daughter . They pushed induction which was something I didn’t want in the beginning of my pregnancy but than they spoke about the possibility of still birth and large baby . My daughter was born at 6 pounds 2 oz so not large at all . I was induced at 39 weeks 5 days delivered the following day . I don’t regret getting induced but it wasn’t a risk I was willing to take but I do feel if I just had another day or so she would have been here on her own . ( I’m not sure if this really helps you lol ) sorry

I think the problem is once your ob puts you in their care anything that can or does go wrong could be blamed on them so they take all precautions some of it seems excessive & it is expensive. Sucks but better safe then sorry I guess. I see both my specialist and my ob and between the two I’m exhausted with tests and what not.

I was high risk (mfm) due to multiples. First pregnancy and don't regret them one bit! They were on their shit and I knew they had mine and the babies interest at hand. Hopefully your OB can refer you to a great team and tell them your concerns and worries but they deal with some amazing cases. @angelfoodcake

I’m high risk due to a bleeding disorder and I absolutely LOVE my high risk dr. She’s very educated and familiarized herself with my situation. I have a rare type of bleeding disorder and she was on top of everything. If anything I felt she was more cautious about my health and the baby’s health, but she never pushed for medication etc. I’m lucky to have her again for baby #2 because with her my 1st pregnancy and delivery went as smoothly as possible, given my high risk of bleeding out etc.

I just had an appointment yesterday with mine for the first time. They did give me worst case scenarios with different situations and kinda scared me but I liked the doctor. Where I’m confused is I went to my regular ob today and they now just want to switch me to maternal fetal specialist.

I’m high risk was this pregnancy and last for previous health conditions and severe anemia and a blood disorder on my side and dads . I’ve had healthy babies this will be number 3 and I love my specialist they work really well with my OB.

All three times I’ve had a specialist and two out of three times something went wrong. The worst having been with our youngest. I love my specialist and my OB they did their best!
