I'm going to ask something really stupid now. I see statuses about people bouncing on birthing balls but why? What does it actually do and when should you start doing it? I have one but it's to do exercises with for physio.

It helps move baby down/get them into position. Can start anytime I didn't until about 36 weeks though x

I think it encourages baby to engage, can use them any time really they're good for exercise and strengthening your core x

I done most my labour on a birthing ball. It helped to get baby down. I didn’t use one other wise x

@pearce5443 yeah hun, just bounced when i was in pain and it eased it for me, i was doing it from maybe 30 weeks, my little girl was still late lol, i was on one while in labour to help with pain too xx
Lisa Whiteford·
The bigger I was the harder it was to get comfy off the couch the ball really helped and was so much easier to stand up off xx
Natasha·
@ezchaz I'm lucky my mum gave me mine. I didn't realise how expensive they were xxx

It’s good for few things. It helps baby to go into right position for labour, it also might help you in labour ( not sure about that as my labour was very fast and had no chance to try) and it also could help with back pains. I also used it after giving birth when baby didn’t want to settle, was bouncing on the ball with little one on my hands and that was helping her to go to sleep.
And you can start it at any time.
