I have a dilemma
My husband and I are itching to go on vacation. We are supposed to go in April when our newborn will be 10months but this weekend we were discussing going in November and our newborn will be 5months. I know that’s pretty young that’s why I’m not sure if that’s such a great idea (I’m waiting for the Dr’s office to open so I can ask the Dr. ) Also I’ll still be breastfeeding and I’m also worried that I can’t use sunscreen on my baby yet. Than there’s also the drinking alcohol part where I’ll have to do a lot of pumping and dumping and probably supplement with formula. So tell me ladies your opinions because I’m like 50/50 and I don’t know what to do. Have any of you traveled with a baby that young? I’ve flown to Jamaica when my first daughter was 10months and that went great but I’m not sure about a 5month old. Oh and we would be flying to Florida about 3 1/2 hour flight.

You don’t have to pump and dump. Alcohol leaves milk like it leaves your blood stream. If you’re ok to drive you’re ok to nurse.

Pump and dump is a myth. So much papers say it’s waste of milk.
Traveling with smaller kids is even easier - you don’t need to entertain. I would go twice. In November and April 😂

I took my son on 2 plane rides (2.5 hrs total) at age 4 months by myself. He didnt mind the plane ride. Theres two of you but two small ones so it will be a challenge. I tried to be prepared with 3 fresh breast milk small bottles and 4 frozen breast milk packages. He fell asleep on my lap and I pumped on the flight with a cover and on the way home i pumped at the airport while waiting for my next flight. As for the sun concern, i made sure my boy was fully covered in light breathable clothes and a hat. He was fine in +35 degree Celsius weather. His sleep was super messed up when i got back home though.

I know pumping and dumping is not necessary but if you still have alcohol in your system and your breast start hurting than you have to.
I’m happy that you girls are saying go I thought that it was going to be a solid no lol I’m still going to check with her Dr to makes sure before we purchase the tickets. I’ll post back to let you girls know incase anybody else has the same dilemma.
