So my husband was just diagnosed with arthritis in his hip... He does Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and he enjoys hiking and backpacking so hes pretty depressed about what this means for future activities. 🙁

Staying active is the best thing he can do.

He can still do that! Have you read about arthritis? They say going vegan can "cure" it. My dad has rheumatoid arthritis and I've been wanting him to go vegan or at least vegetarian.

Active and stretching. The less he moves the worse it'll get

@wvgirl @gabby.pineda I don't know much about arthritis at all I will have to do some research now that he's been diagnosed with it but according to them there's certain activities such as deep lunges and fully extending his hip that he will no longer be able to do. They said there is a spot on the hip that is supposed to curve in but his curves out instead so when he does any type of activity that fully extends his hip it causes two bones to rub together. They said that's what caused the arthritis. They said some people get that spot of bone shaved down but unfortunately his has already caused so much damage there probably isn't many surgeons that would be willing to do that at this point.

@lii94 this is so true! My dad has had rheumatoid arthritis for over 15 years and he stays active. He says all the time if he sits down for more than 5 minutes his body is in so much pain. The more he moves the better he feels.
Jessi·
@gabby.pineda @lii94 I don't think he would stop being active even if they asked him to lol so he definitely doesn't have to worry about that! He's a super active person so he'll be happy to hear that continuing activity will be beneficial. His only concern is how much hip use is involved in Jiu-Jitsu and the possibility of re injury.

@tattooedmommyof4 maybe he could do some yoga for his hips before doing jiu-jitsu? They say yoga helps a lot for pain.
Jessi·
@gabby.pineda that's a good idea I'll have him try that!
