Really debating on starting my short term disability my job gives us up to 26 weeks for maternity with 70% of pay if i come out now i can still have 15 weeks home with my son. My pregnancy has been rough n my relationship has been harder i jus really need this time to focus n get ready

Hang in there mama, as much as you want time off now- trust me- you’re going to want it more when baby is here. Push through, you’ve got this.

@laniejay, I’m in so much pain wen i get off work i can barely eat, lay down sleep anything

I say if you need to then take it, but like @laniejay, said, you’re going to really want that extra time with baby when it gets here so if you can hold out for even just a little bit longer I would try. 15 weeks is amazing but 26 is even better! I hope you get to feeling better soon ❤️

I wanna know too lol I didn't get anything when I was working full time. I had to take short term disability which was 60%of a 40 hr week for 6 weeks. and I didn't get anything for the first 8 business days.

@yatyat, @jessig2006, @prettyjazz98, i work for an insurance but they don’t offer maternity leave so ur only option is to take short term which u get up to 26 weeks if needed n i pay a extra $1 a pay check to get 70% instead of 60% the first 5 days u don’t get paid tho

Damn girl! That's fantastic! And I don't blame you. If you've got the ability to go early I would do it too! 15 weeks is still a nice long time with baby and truth is you never know when they are going to come so you might end up with a little more or a little less.

Wow sounds like a good plan! I get extended PTO (for c-section) to start 24 hrs after I go out on leave. After being out for 2 weeks I collect short term which is 60% of my pay & I can use my regular PTO to make my check 100%, BUT I think my total leave time is still only 12 weeks but I am sure it is at my managers discretion 😒

Hang in there! Weeks 27-30 were the toughest for me. My doctor took me out of work just after 32 weeks. I’m feeling so much better now that I’m not working. I thankfully get 100% pay on STD and then separate maternity leave of 16 week though. Maybe you can try to hang in there a couple more weeks or something? Just to have a little more time after your baby is here. Hope you are feeling better soon 💗
