I’d love to hear what people have to say about those who aim to make snide remarks about using formula at times. I’m getting tired of my MIL making remarks and so far I’ve ignored them or bit my tongue.
My LO is 6 weeks old and I’m doing both BF & supplementing. I was beginning to get extreme anxiety having to pump a short while after breastfeeding, then feeding shortly after, over and over... on top of not sleeping because of baby constantly feeding and then me pumping. I’m prone to anxiety and depression and didn’t want myself to fall into PPD, so by easing the pressure off from exclusively breastfeeding I started incorporating formula into his daily diet. So glad I’ve made that decision, but now my MIL has been making these remarks that are kinda passive-aggressive and aimed at making me feel bad for bottle feeding him at times (esp. if we’re visiting them and I don’t want to spend 40min in the bedroom with baby). What to do?

Ignore the snide comments, just keep doing want you’re doing mama. You don’t have to listen to the comments people make.

What does she say exactly? I’m trying to figure out where she’s coming from.. I’m sorry you feel the way you do. Just know your doing your best. What works for one mom may not for another.

@rebelprincesz24, Thank you 😊

@brownsugarluv, For one, I asked her if she wanted to take over feeding our son when we were over (I decided not to BF the night when we visited them), and she said she didn’t know how a bottle worked since she AND her daughter only breastfed (seriously?! She doesn’t know how to use a bottle? Also, I know her daughter pumps and uses a bottle and has used formula when she was put on antibiotics so I know she’s lying when she implied that she didn’t know how to use a bottle—she stays with her for weeks at a time when her husband is away for military). It was the tone in how she said it. So condescending. Later on, she brought the issue of formula up out of nowhere when we were talking with a friend about how much he’s growing, and she asked why I needed to use formula, and I ignored her and started a conversation with someone else. Idk 😐

@braindeadmama, Then don’t be fucking rude to me and tell me I don’t need to pump in the first place when my post was about advice on how to deal judgmental people just like you. 😏

@bitchcraft, TBH I’m not going to try and create further stress, anxiety and potential depression by over worrying about exclusively breastfeeding. I can’t function if I have depression, and I think a happy and fed baby is more important than other people’s opinions about me not exclusively breastfeeding. She should be glad I’m at least doing it half of the time! Next time she brings it up I’ll let her know her grandbaby is healthy, happy and well cared for, and her judgement isn’t appreciated. Lol

She has her own issues.. Definitely express your feelings towards the situation.
Your doing a great job. Keep it up! 💓
