Question: Ladies do u wash the babies new clothes & stuff b4 they wear em 🤔 & why?
@yatyat, yes! 99% of the time. Only in a really urgent situation have I not- such as forgetting a towel on a beach trip, having to stay the night out of town when not planned, etc. it’s a habit. I buy something, take the tags off and toss it in the laundry basket to be washed with the next load. We actually just bought new mattress protectors and yep, washed them first. Even though skin isn’t touching them, I just can’t.
@nschlegel yes when I get stuff from the salvation army n stuff I definitely wash it 1st. & my baby who is 9 😏 has sensitive skin & can only use certain soaps & laundry detergents so I have to. But he's never had a reaction to new clothes or sheets n stuff that we bought but didn wash b4 using. I will do better this time around tho.
@yatyat, desperate times call for desperate measures. I’ve never been in a situation where I had something like a massive blow out or need for new clothes but I would do what I had to and just pray over it hahah
I wash EVERYTHING before first use. Clothes, towels, sheets, etc. Not just baby stuff, but I’m extra cautious to wash everything the baby comes in contact with. Even the little cuddly blanket type toys
@phoebesmommy & u BET NOT say one word to me about them 🙊🙊🙊🙉🙉🙉 ZIP IT 🤐😂😂😂
@phoebesmommy but what about when u run to the mall to get an outfit for 2night 🤔 u got time to wash it? I can understand being extra cautious for the 1st year though...
@yatyat, I understand lol obviously your boys are fine. It’s just once you know things you cannot unlearn them LOL. This is why I have a very hard time staying in hotels 😬
@phoebesmommy u ladies r very informative but sheesh I have 3 boys & have NEVER thought about prewashing everything & after hearing this 🤦🏽♀️🤢
I think the first year with baby I'm just more cleaner in general as much as I can @yatyat
@mayjayy14 @itty_bitty @ellyium @jacob_mommy @its.a.bird @amysbabies @cams @angelfoodcake @glencoco @phoebesmommy does that mean that u ladies ALWAYS wash ur clothes & stuff (sheets, blankets, towels etc) b4 wearing or using them 🤔. I mean because if not than the babies r still being exposed to said germs, dust particles, animal droppings etc.
Personally I think you should expose your baby to certain skin “ germs early on “ what would happen if you washed all ya babies clothes in dreft( baby detergent) and they were allergic , then ya have to re wash everything in a different soap
Always. Never know what animals are crawling over them, bugs laying eggs etc
Yes. I work in a distribution center. It’s dusty and dirty and sometimes the clothes get dropped on the floor. I wouldn’t put that on my child without washing it first.
I do, but when I had my first at 19 yr didn't think to do it and never was advised either. He was fine but yeah I think it's a good practice for the above reason posted.
My 12 year we did not wash his school clothes this year, never have.
You would be surprised at some of the conditions of warehouses and storerooms. Plus stuff could fall on the ground, get stepped on, etc.
Yes! I worked for a department store years and years ago, and there were often rat droppings on the clothing stored in the back, it was just shaken out before put on the floor. Even packaged items, at one point have someone touching them and you never know if they just popped a pimple or threw up and didn’t wash their hands—- I mean I don’t think the germs would survive, but the thought 😓
I was told to wash them because you don't know what condition they are shipped to the store in and how many people touched the clothing before you picked it up and bought it.
2nd hand for sure just because you don't really know what may be on them still, brand new, yes as well, have them all smell like our soap, who knows what they were packaged in (if possibly something like mice ran on them in shipping), also it helps loosen and soften them up. That part may just be me but I swear brand new unwashed clothes are so uncomfortable. Of course, though, there are always some exceptions due to grabbing a last minute outfit because you didn't have one and need one asap etc.
