I'm starting to transition my son to a stage 1 sippy cup. The nipple doesn't resemble a bottle but an actual big boy cup. When he drinks out of it the liquid dribbles out of his mouth and down his chin. Should I buy a cup nipple that resembles a bottle or should I just let him figure it out?

@phoebesmommy I'm not going to make it an everyday thing. Just something for a random time. So when I want to push for a transition it won't be so difficult.

@phoebesmommy .. a sippy can be introduced at any time a parent feels their kid can handle the transition. No need to stop their development just bc of age.
Also, a little water can be introduced and is to not replace milk until after 12mths.

@bailyanne, ok just wondered if you knew. Too much water can actually be fatal. I honestly would cool it with sippy cups til like 10 months bc he could be getting too much at once.

@phoebesmommy I'm not trying to get rid of the bottles until he is 1 year or more but I want to get him started and used to sippy cups. And I rarely give him water. It was my first time today it was only a ounce or so. He didn't drink it all either.

If he isn't choking from the liquid or complaining ... let him figure it out.

He’s only 6 months.. is there a reason you’re giving him a sippy cup? Also.. i would be careful giving him water. It’s really not necessary until there 12mos and off of breast milk/formula
