Why Does My 11-Month-Old Gag on Soft Foods?
My 11 month old has a really bad gag reflex. Every time we feed him soft table foods(he doesn’t have teeth yet) he will gag until he throws everything up. We have tried everything you can think of. It doesn’t matter what it is, as soon as it’s in his mouth it comes back up. I feel so bad for him. I hope and pray it’ll get better everyday so when he eats cake for the first time he can enjoy it. 😭

I would bring it up to his pediatrician. He may have issues swallowing in general.

@nschlegel, we are. He can manage to eat a few pieces but if one makes him gag then that’s when he throw it back up.

My 3 year old was on baby food till he was 18 months! He would eat maybe 3-4 things that weren’t baby food till one day he decided not to gag anymore 🤷🏻♀️

@jenloveee3, oh wow. We are still trying to work with him, we pray he will be able to have better control the older he gets.
