Is it REQUIRED to not drive for the two weeks after giving birth vaginally or if you have a birth with no complications? My two boys start school around my due date and my husband works so I am trying to figure out if i can drive or if it’s not allowed so I can try to make other arrangements if needed. Thanks!

I was never told I couldn’t drive, and I tore and had to have stitches both times

Awesome! Thanks ladies. That takes a huge load off of me because i was worried i wouldn’t be able to. I’ve never been told the reason behind not driving after birth for two weeks but i assumed i would get in trouble if i did lol

At my discharge they told me not to drive for at least 2 weeks, but I was driving one week afterwards. But I didn’t have any stitches and delivered vaginally. I think it’s really whenever you feel more comfortable and as long as you’re not taking any meds that make you drowsy and such.

They never told me no driving after birth. I went back to school, both times, only 6 & 7 days after I gave birth. Just ask your provider.

The only issue may be is that if you get in an accident and you weren't cleared to drive by a doctor, insurance may not cover it. (That's what I've been told, no idea how accurate it is or whether it's only for surgeries and not vaginal births.)

I was only told I couldn't drive after a c-section.
