No you can not spoil a baby and yes crying is fine to a certain point. Screaming for 5 mins or more is not ok.

no you can’t not spoil a baby by holding him or her to much, and yes it’s okay to let him or her cry but to a certain point as long as all their needs are met sometimes they just cry for comfort.

I honestly don't let my girls cry especially when they are young. I believe if they are crying then they obviously need something (hungry, tired, dirty diaper etc...) I don't hold my girls a lot either. They seem to be independent probably because I don't hold them a lot, idk really.

You hold that baby because before you know it, that baby will run away!

Thank you! This is my first baby and my husband is a first time dad and he keeps telling me not to rush to get my crying baby and to let her cry some and that holding her to much will spoil her. I need someone with facts to show him. Because i completely disagree with him and i will hold my baby when ever i want and she needs or wants. Its freaking me out because i adore my baby alrady and i can't imagine letting her cry .

@angelbrownell26, i wouldn’t let her cry at a few days old or even weeks, you will be learning her routines and her little personality at first, so it’s okay to pick her up when she cries. She will need that mother and daughter bond. My daughter will be 8 months old soon and now it’s when i started letting her cry for about 45-secs to a min and most of the times she will stop her crying and continue playing.

Here’s a good article: https://www.webmd.com/parenting/baby/features/infants-attention

As far as crying goes I believe that is up to the parent (within reason of course) the second my kids make any type of cry related noise my husband picks them up. I however will get what they are crying about (ex diaper, bottle, binkie) 1st. Then get them. I don’t believe you should let a baby scream but if you are making a bottle and is not coming along fast enough then it’s ok for them to be upset. Helps them learn to self sooth. And hold that baby as much as possible. At one point or another they will want to run away from you. And then your holding a sweet little baby days are over.

No, new infants cannot be spoiled by holding them too much. I do not believe new infants just cry to cry; they cry to communicate. Letting them be fussy is one thing but if they are actually crying, it's not for no reason.

When I had my son and he was held the whole entire day he was born I caught pure hell when I wanted to take a shower and to take a nap he wouldn't nap nor would he stop crying I learned my lesson but they can cry a little but not to much and also everybody got their own opinion trust and believe you'll learn quick when something is wrong or they just pulling ya leg to get up the cries will tell you don't worry you'll do great mama
