Is it just me or is this something really insensitive and rude to say to a grieving mother? I was talking about my husband and I having different ways of moving forward and how hurt I was but I respected what he wanted and this is how my friend replied.

I think she had good intentions but could have worded it better

That definitely could have been worded way different but text is not the best form of communication. So many things can get misconstrued.

@wolfnurturer yeah it made me feel like I had no right to be hurt or grieving when I do. Yes I still have my son and I love him but I still lost a child.
Mother Of Him&Her·
@aylenrose I would tell her how it made you feel and that you are happy about your son but that doesn't take away from the hurt and she may not able to relate but understand this is effecting you and how you're able to handle it right now.

She obviously does not understand child loss, or she would not have said it. I get what she is trying to say, but it isn't helpful and is a bit condescending. Maybe just explain to her that does not erase the pain you are feeling. Mostly, just try to understand people who haven't been through it will never know what to say in that situation.

I would have said “you’re right. You’re not in a position to say anything.” And left it at that

She meant well but some people are just ignorant and need to learn to keep their “chin up” kind of talk to themselves when dealing with a grieving parent 😑

I don’t think she meant it in a bad way. She’s not in your shoes so she can’t understand everything but still don’t take it as something bad.
