So my ds dr told us yesterday its ok to start freeding my 4 mo old son eggs and peanut butter to decrease any risk of allergy.... also start feeding him baby food and meats.... i dont remember doing it this early with my other kids

Babies digestive systems aren’t ready for solids until 6 months momma I would personally hold off and introduce at 6 months, until then baby only needs breastmilk/formula. :) hope that helps.

Nope. Very out dated advice. 6 months minimum. If you’re worried about exposure to those things, you can expose them without ingesting by putting it on their skin. But no need until 6 months per the AAP Ana WHO

Eggs and pb sound like a recipe for choking at 4 months old.

@glencoco EXACTLY!!!! Thats what me and dh where talking about last night! I was shocked becasue weve been goin to this guy for almost 10 years with my oldest
Cmjohnson3047·
@laniejay ans he had the nerve to say just thin the pb out some and give it to him.... he said all of this is backed by the AAP so no nees to worry and ge gave me the paperwork to look it over.

Our babies were born pretty much around the same time I remember from B.B.
My daughter is definitely 100% not ready for solids. People do things differently but I won’t be feeding mine solids until 6 months at least
Cmjohnson3047·
@gem_1618 yep same here i left feeling really confused and shocked he said this to me
Cmjohnson3047·
@gem_1618 my son isnt ready yet either he cant sit on his own or support his neck 100%

@cmjohnson3047, I’m sure your son was born like 3/4 days after willow, (20th March) ?
I know they say listen to your GP but I’d go with your gut on this one, you’re his mama after all
Lanie Jay·
@cmjohnson3047, my pedi gave out of date info too. It’s frustrating. Go with what science and studies say about baby’s gut.

Glad your waiting. No need for all that crap in their bellies yet. He's lived in you longer than he's been out here.
Cmjohnson3047·
@gem_1618 yes March 23rd! And yes i know im goin with my gut!

Our pediatrician told us that as well. It lowers the chances of food allergies. It's not like you're going to give your baby a whole spoonful of peanut butter or a whole egg just a little tiny bit. A little Dot of peanut butter and a tiny piece of egg is fine

I would not advise that at all. Do some research online and you’ll see why then go back to that dr and let them know the research you’ve done and tell them to stop advising mothers to feed their 4 month old meats and peanut butter for god sake!!!!!
Cmjohnson3047·
@inkedsouthernbelle lol i know but even the paperwork he gave me says 6 months
Amber McCowin ·
@cmjohnson3047, yeah that’s an example of the fact that all pediatricians are good sources for information about babies and children and that’s sad because they really shouldn’t be eating meat yet especially peanut butter just because of the texture so I’d bring it up next visit and talk about your concerns (if you have any) and let them know the new info you’ve been given from fellow moms and the internet (a reputable source even though some choose not to believe it) and go from there
Cmjohnson3047·
@inkedsouthernbelle thanks mama i will
