CIO

Can anyone please help me get my baby to sleep without using the cio method? I'm drained. He's 8 months old and ebf. It takes me HOURS to get him to go to sleep at night. We have a pretty good schedule (I think) Bath, a little bit of play time, eating some baby oatmeal and then nursing for about 30 minutes. He's so tired but when I put him in his crib it's like he's suddenly wide awake and just starts crying. Then he's up every 2 hours and crys until I nurse him. I know he's not hungry because he barely eats. I need help asap I'm so drained. Thank you in advance!

I usually just nursed my babies to sleep. Then would detach them. I'd hold them for a few minutes or until I was sure they were in a deep sleep and then lay them down.

Can you wait until he is actually asleep before you move him?

Maybe try switching it up. I would cut bath time so close to bed time. For some babies it Actully wakes them up more. Along with play time. I would only do real mellow things like reading, feeding and cuddling. Keep the light dim and try that for a few days. If that doesn't work switch it up again till something does. But if your child is anything like mine you will have to wait till they grow out of it. Dd2 I refused to do cio. She didn't start sleeping though the night till 11 months and is now almost 2 and still gets up twice a week but nothing like before.

Before we did CIO, I would try nursing him to sleep and if that didn't work I rocked him standing for a couple of hours. It was awful.

Co-sleep! I have a 4 month old and I bed share and I'm never tired.

Try cutting out the play time after a bath, or switching it to play time before bath. Playing will stimulate him more and work against you right before bed time.

After the bath, try a baby massage in a dimly lit room with lavendar lotion, and speak quietly and sparingly. No tickling or playing! Then try nursing to sleep.

My dd went through a similar phase around that age. It would take a minimum 1.5-2 hours to get her to actually go to sleep, and she still woke up every 2 hours at night until she was over a year old. After about a month or two she started going to bed easier, but nothing I tried worked, it seemed like just a phase she went through. I really hope you find something that works for you guys!

I can't co sleep because he goes to bed at 8 pm and I have another child to take care of and spend time with after. He crawls so I don't feel comfortable leaving him on my bed alone.

I do currently nurse him to sleep and wait 15 minutes after he unlatches to lay him down. It's like as soon as his head touches the sheets he's wide awake again.

I will try to move bath time sooner and play time up but he won't stay still long enough to have cuddle time or for me to read a book. I've tried and he just crawls away.

Thanks for yalls responses ?

Following! I'm going through the same thing right now with my 8mo. Currently listening to her cry and it's breaking my heart!
