Please help. I'm going insane
Please help. I'm going insane
Bedtime for my 6 month old is like toucher for both of us. It literally takes 2 + hours to get him to sleep. We have a good bedtime routine consisting of dinner, bath, reading and nursing. He goes to bed around 7:30 pm. As soon as I put him in his crib he's wide awake and screams until I nurse him again. I have tried patting him gently on the bottom while saying shhh I've tried picking him up. Nothing calms him until he's nursing. I guess finally he's so worn out he just sleeps for a little. Then I'm up ALL night with him. He literally is up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours All Night Long. And once again nothing clams him until he's nursing. This has been going on for 2 months now. I literally can not do this anymore. I'm so sleep deprived. I'll take any and all ideas please!!!!

You seem to have a pretty good schedule. How long is your love awake in between your last nap and bed time? Also what is your nap schedule like through out feeding in the day?

I was asking because there is the possibility that you aren't giving enough "action" time before bed. Maybe add 30-15min of play time in your bed time routine, or that he is awake too long In between last nap.

Sorry to keep adding, lol. Sometimes my babies last nap is her longest and she will stay up for as long as three hours until bed time.

You might also consider cluster feeding in the evenings. Or choose to change your routine to feeding him some solids then boob then bed. Hope this help!

Swaddle with one arm out? Vibrating lullaby toy? Paci? Belly sleeping?

How many naps does your baby take a day? Mine..2 good naps=sleeping through the night. We do all activities before bathing/wiping down (and in a calm mode). Once he's in his pj, he gets his milk and goes right to sleep. Good luck!! You can do it. I really think napping is the key so the baby won't be overtired.

Do you have a sound machine or fan or somethibg to make noise or keep him entertained if he is awake? I dont have this problem but i feel for you. But my girl will play and talk to her stuffed animals that are on the crib and she has a worm that plays nursery rhymes that i turn on (it plays for 15 minutes) and if she is awake she figured out how to turn it on herself and go back to sleep.

He takes 2 naps during the day usually about 3 hours apart.
I let him nurse for about a hour before I try to put him in the crib the first time at night. I just can't win.
He hates being swaddled and always has ?
I will try a sound machine. I have the worm you're talking about. He doesn't care for it lol. He just cries over it

Tonight I attempted to put him down at 7:30. He showed all signs of being tired- whiny and yawning and it is 11:58 pm and he's been asleep for more than 5 minutes for the first time all night. ?

I had this problem. We used to start bedtime routine around 7 (bath, read, nurse, bed). Now we start at 6 and she's doing much better! I also added solids at breakfast (she has been getting solids around 5pm). She gets up 6-7am, nurses, and has solids around 745am. She usually naps around 830am and then again around 130pm. I think my daughter was just overly tired and moving up her bedtime has helped immensely! I feel your pain!

This was me a few months ago. I said I would never sleep train but I had to for my sanity. I just couldn't function anymore. Now she goes to bed like a dream. She may wake once during the night occasionally if she's hungry but now sleeps most of the time 10-12 hours straight. I would look in to it. If you get desperate enough. If your on FB join precious little sleep. It has helped me a lot with questions and problems along the way.

We had to do some serious sleep training with my lo cuz he was the same way! It was hard but soooo worth it and it only (ha.. Only) took a week for him to pick up on it. Idk what the method is called but do your normal routine, lay them down drowsy and then if they cry.. Let it be for 5 minutes. Then go check on them, no talking or anything, only shhh and pats on butt or back. Then do that as long as it takes. Our first night was two hours.. Omg. Ha then keep doing that, but later in the week, like day 4-5 switch it to ten minute intervals of crying. Sounds mean but they get the hint. We HAD to do this cuz we we ALL miserable. Now, even on his bad nights, he will cry for 20 minutes tops and pass out for a good 6-8 hours. :) as long as they are fed, clean diaper and cozy, then they are fine. My lo tricked me and I thought he was hungry all this time, turns out I was a human pacifier.
