How do you ladies feel abt the cry it out method?

Edit: I chose this topic just to have a healthy debate over simply because I'm bored .. I am not considering this for my own children (they are all very good sleepers lol)

That's why I asked actual CIO or Ferber method because Ferber method you are soothing your child. Just not picking them up.

I do it to my 3 and 4 year old as well they think if I cry daddy will let me stay up later which daddy does do but not with mama. For a baby that’s a no no I would always rock my baby’s to sleep.

I did it (the Ferber method) with my 3 year old when he was 7 months old. Worked great in about 3 nights. He never cried longer then 15 minutes at one point. We would go in the bedroom every couple minutes and then extend the minutes. Im sure I will not have to do it with my twins. They already fall asleep on their own since 3 months. Every since they were born I would put them down when they were almost asleep and now they fall asleep in less the 2 mins when I lay them in the crib. So I got them to learn to fall asleep on their own already without crying it out. I was so worried I was going to have to do CIO with two at the same time.

@mamaofzuri I agree with this to a certain extent. I did it with my oldest for 5 days when he was 5.5 months and he learned to self soothe after that day and has been an excellent sleeper since. I dnt think it works for every child tho.

We literally have to use it for my son! It’s the only way he will fall asleep is if we put him in his crib and let him fuss about it for a minute till he falls asleep 😅 not for everyone though just works for us

@jleona
Yeah alot of people read cio and assume first option that's why I asked. For kynzleigh I let her cry and checked on her every 5 minutes. Rubbed her back and stuff but never picked her up. The first day took almost and hour. By day 3 only 15 minutes then only 5

@nerdymommyplus2 I had no idea there was a difference lol. But I'm talking abt the Ferber method. I wouldn't ever let my kids just cry and never come back. That sounds HORRIBLE! I did the ferber method with both of my boys. 5.5 months with my oldest (hands down the best sleeper ever lol) and 8 months with my 2 year old.

Like actual CIO where you leave and never come back or like the Ferber method CIO because at a certain age I'm against both (younger than 9 months)
But I'm not against FERBER method after 9 months

@jleona lol. This will do it! I used to get really worked up and throw down on BB over it. I think there is a wide range in the public definition of what cry it out truly means. Kind of like natural birth and cosleeping. You get a wide variety of opinion on what those mean, too.

I did it with my son starting at about 7 or 8 months when we put him in his own room and it took a couple nights but it worked. We would keep checking on him here and there but it wasn't really a big deal for him. I still do the cry it out method with him now because I know he's crying because he's not getting his way.

@jenx thanks, but personally my kids sleep well. I'm just bored and wanted to hear other opinions lol.

@gabby.pineda I did it with my oldest at 6 months and he has been an AMAZING sleeper since (took 5 nights). I tried with my younger son when he was like 8 months old and no matter how much I tried, it didn't work so I gave up. Now at almost two years old he sleeps pretty well, but wakes up once a night for no reason at all 😭 Still can't figure out why. He goes to sleep when I lay him down with no problem tho.
