How did U get lice ?

I’ve never heard of this for lice!

I’m always looking for ways to get rid of it. My daughter got it once last year and it took forever to rid of them😑.

@marielovely I don't have lice currently I just did the mayo thing to make my hair soft but I found out how wonderful it is for my hair because we used to get lice like every other year when I was in school.

@day1401 sometimes you do habe do to like two rounds. But we would do the shampoos and even tried dog tick and lice shampoo and it never worked. The mayo though wrapped in plastic wrap suffocates them. It also helps if while you have it wrapped you blow dry it to heat it up. You can look it up online for exact times and different various forms of it.

I have a home daycare and it seems as though someone is always “accidentally” dropping their child off with them without saying anything.

@izzyaspie And it doesn't have any dangerous chemicals and I mean people do mudbaths so mayo in hair doesn't sound so off the wall lol

I volunteer for the lice clinic of America in our area and mayo is not a recommended method of treating lice.

@day1401 omg, yes. It's like they just never notice. It's not something easy to just not see your kid scratching and little bugs when you brush their hair or wash them etc.

@pettybetty well, nothing else ever worked for me and it isn't adding anything dangerous to me or my hair. It kills them so I don't see a problem. If not recommended I've never heard of anyone saying it is something you shouldn't do. It's just not as common a treatment.

Heat and nit picking are the most efficient way to get rid of lice. No chemicals necessary. Use a hair dryer daily. Not on high heat, just warm. Use it to heat scalp and roots of hair. This will create an undesirable place for lice to lay their eggs. It will also dehydrate any eggs that have already been laid. Eggs won't hatch. Comb like crazy and pick everything you see out.

Use lint rollers on couches, mattresses, pillows, car seats, etc.

@pettybetty that's basically what the mayo does on top of making hair super soft. Then lint rollers and serious vacuuming on the furniture, washing all linens and putting stuffed animals and such in garbage bags for a few weeks. 👌

lice loves clean hair i only wash my hair 3 days a week but i bath everyday. i grew up doing the mayo to for lice

treat all heads. Wash and dry all linens. Lint roll. Slumber part in living room and shut bedrooms for 3 days. Then lint roll and vaccum the heck out of bedrooms. Every one move back to bedrooms and avoid living room for 3 days.

Not saying it didn't work for you. Just giving some more info incase any one may need it since it was part of the topic.

I've seen people come in and try all kinds of things. One dad came in and said he put gasoline on his 2 daughters hair. They had had it for almost 6 month and he was desperate.

I've seen coconut oil, mayo, baby oil, vinegar.... all works to some extent.
