Is he rear facing or forward? Do the straps start above or below?

The chest clip is way to high

I agree with @newlyironman the chest clip is too high up, it should be at arm pit level, maybe move it down and see if that makes a difference?

Like everyone said, the clip is too high but so are the straps. They need to be below the shoulders in the back

Is he close to he max of this seat?

@braindeadmama, @nerdymommyplus2, he is forward facing and the straps are at/above his shoulders like the manual says they should be. He is 38 inches and 36 lbs

The Harmon defender and Graco seat are about 100$ but it'll be his last seat. Both seats go to backless booster.

Here is my 6 year old in Graco seat.

She's 43 inches and 38 pounds. Her seat harnesses until 65 pounds

@newlyironman, i just feel like it doesn’t make much of a difference since it’ll only be like a centimeter down, you know? Maybe it’s just the car seat?

I did alot of research. I had to put my daughter in booster and I hated it because she outgrew the weight of harness for old seat so I went searching for something affordable and to put her back in a harness

@kellynicole, Your two options would be a convertible or a harness to booster seat. With a convertible you’ll likely anywhere between 1.5-2 more years out of give or take. The harness to boosters like nerdymommy commented, you will be able to use until he stops using a car seat. The harmony defender has very high five point harness height limits! It’s what my in laws use for my son. My personal favorite it the britax frontier, it’s pricey but an amazing seat.
