My son will be two years old in November. He says a good bit of words, but he doesn’t really talk much or even try to. He’s super smart though. He says thank you any time I hand him something, when I ask him where his nose, eyes and mouth are he knows where to point to, and he says a lot of other simple words like daddy, hi, doggie, mama, nanny, etc. is it normal for him to not really talk a lot? At his last appointment a few months ago his pediatrician made me feel like he was behind or something because he doesn’t say multiple words at a time...

It’s totally normal. Don’t let the pedi freak you out (at least not yet). They are only supposed to have 50 words you understand (don’t have to be crystal clear, just associated with an event/object) by 2. My son took off in the last month talking though, so give him time and it’ll happen!

I feel that's normal....at 18m his doctor said between 5-10 words was normal for that age, and two-word sentences was something he'd do around 2. He only started stringing words together about two months ago.

My pedi said the same thing as @nomli ‘s at our 18m appt. Sounds like your son is doing just fine.

Some people say then when a kid walks before talking it can take a while before he talks properly but does not he wont. And one they start talking nobody can stop em

My son was like that... I got a referral for speech therapy and he caught up. Its hard to hear it at first but the best u can do is get all the help they can offer bc it wont hurt it can only help ☺
