If your baby has been fussy all day and has oh napped a couple times through out the day, once it was night time, they finally went to sleep at about 2 am, and it's not 5:30 am. Would you let them sleep or wake them up??
@vvrobinson yes she was. I ended up switching her formula and she's been better now so she's been eating aloooot
You have a week old. I wouldnt let the baby sleep past 5 hours. Newborns sleep 18 hours a day. If your week old is fed non stop, theyre past their birth weight and overall healthy then some pediatricians say let the baby sleep. But I remember you mentioning your feeding issues so i wouldnt. My daughter nurses on demand all day long. Shes constantly eating, has healthy diapers and had gone from 7lbs 2.5oz to 7lbs and 11.5oz in 5 days. Based on that growth the pedi is not concerned about my kiddo sleeping longer at night and neither am i. These questions you have are all better suited for your pedi. Call their office and speak to the on call nurse, even on the weekend and ask these things. We arent doctors and dont know your specific predicament
Make sure your pace feeding and not filling her belly too much or you’ll stretch it and cause other issues. She may be restless because she has an upset belly. Baby should be eating 1.5-2oz per pound per day. So a 10lb baby should eat 15-20oz per day / 8 feeds = 1 3/4 oz-2.5 oz max per feed. Burp every half ounce and at this age a half ounce should take 5 minutes when pace fed properly (as they get older 1 oz burps and 5 mins per oz)
