Why are you having a scheduled csection if you do not mind me asking?

Depending in hospital you might have to go there the day before to get your admission blood work and bracelet if not you'll go the day of bright and early. They make you go there about 2 hours before to monitor you and baby. You meet your team and they do urine, etc prep you. You theb walk to the o.r and they'll give you a spinal and then get things started. You can also have a birthing plan like skin to skin, cord clamping delay etc. Its all your choice do not let them say you can't because you can unless baby is in distress.

You show up on your schedule time, 2 hrs before actual surgery. They get you in your hospital gown, hook up the contraction machine to your belly. Then they run bloodwork to check for any red flags. Then your ob will arrive and prep for surgery. In that time the anesthesiologist will come meet you and tell you what to expect with your spinal. They will put in an iv, request your catheter to be put in AFTER spinal. Once the ob is in the surgical room they will walk you in. Your husband will have to remain outside the surgical room during spinal, its hospital procedure. The spinal takes a few minutes, then your man is allowed in and they begin the surgery. Within 20 minutes the baby will be on your chest and they will be stitching you up. Once baby is pulled out your husband can cut the cord, my husband did both of our girls. Once they roll you into the recovery room your man can go sponge bathe your baby while you get your feeling back then you can try to do your first nursing.

@juliam27 nothing to be nervous about. Csections are amazing. Just believe in your doctors.

The ladies above basically covered everything. Only thing I’d say differently is I’d recommend you not to sponge bathe the baby right away. Give it at least 24 hours.

@vvrobinson i went straight to nursing my girls except for my middle child. My last child the sponge bath was done 4 hours after with me assisting.
