What Should I Do About Increasingly Painful Contractions?

Go back to the doctor!!! They need to stop them. I had my twins at 24 weeks and only one made it through it. He’s still sick and he’s almost 6 months old now.

I’d drink more water and see if that helps seeing as that was the issue. Braxton Hicks are common when dehydrated and that’s likely what your experiencing not real contractions. If you were dehydrated this morning your likely still dehydrated especially with this heat. If they continue or get worse while drinking tons of water then I’d call your dr, I don’t think they would have discharged you if they were concerned you were having real contractions.

They felt you were dehydrated, but only had you drink water? I’d call again. Perhaps you need an IV. In the mean time, try Gatorade.

I ended up going back to the hospital and I started dilating. Almost 2cm after 3 hours of consistent contractions and was given a steroid shot to stop them. They're keeping me over night and I'm on bed rest until further notice

@mommytobe2k17, are you sure the shot was to stop them? The steroids is usually to help your child’s lungs develop quicker. They should’ve gave you mag too for the baby’s brain. Just in case something was to happen and you do end up having the baby. They also gave me Motrin and a thousand other things. I was in the hospital 2 weeks. Drink plenty of water like over a 100 ounces. The Motrin is something you should ask your doc about. Mine told me that it helps with not having contractions but it’s not a sure thing. I'm really terrified and don't really know what to ask. It didn't help that I was out of state and had to go to the doctor there. My flight home is in a few hours and I'm going straight to L&D to see my doctor personally. I may have misunderstood about the steroid shot because as soon as I heard almost 2 cm I automatically freaked out.but I will definitely ask about the motrin.

Yea I was discharged about an hour ago. My Ob thinks my body is trying to go into labor. She couldn't find any underlying factor for it. On top of it I was severely dehydrated and was Given fluids. She did decide to start me on motrin as well. Also I'm on bed rest for a week until my next appointment to see if that's helped at all and weekly appointment from now until labor. What scared me the most was that she said she feels like there isn't going to be much she can do and that she wants to atleast get me to 29 before she considers letting me have the baby.

@mommytobe2k17, unless you or your child is in danger do not let them induce you or do a c section. That was my mistake. I dilated to 8cm but it could’ve took me another day or another week or even weeks to completely be in labor. The doctor told he I had to but we wasn’t in danger. I should’ve refused it. Stress is the reason for mine. They couldn’t find anything physically wrong so it had to of been the amount of stress I was dealing with from my baby daddy and his family. Being a preemie mom is extremely hard. I’m not sure if I told you this or not but my son is still on oxygen and was in the NICU for 4 months. I wasn’t able to hold him for the first month of his life. I could only touch him very carefully through a tiny little hole. His twin wasn’t strong enough and passed away at 6 days old. I’ve been through so much with Waylon. He’s had to have two different surgeries and is probably going to have a third. I’m not trying to scare you. I just want you to know what it all means. I wish someone would’ve told me everything I’m telling you before all of it happened.
