Do any of you mamas have children with ADD/ADHD.? How did you find out your child has it.?

My brother has adhd. We found out by him getting diagnosed by a physiatrist. Talk to your dr about getting referred to a psychiatrist or psychologist. Then from there the dr will take proper steps into therapy and/ or medication

Brought up my concerns to her pedi and was referred to a psychologist from there. She was tested and diagnosed.

@angm.2213, I could just always tell that she was different. I thought she had ADD because she isn’t hyper or overly active or anything. She just has a really hard time focusing or learning new things in school because of her attention span. I talked to her teacher before I did it and she agreed that I should get her tested. For example, in first grade we would go over words like “it” and “or” and literally as soon as we stopped she would forget them like she’d never learned it before. She was ultimately diagnosed with ADHD because they don’t diagnose ADD anymore.

@mommynes, sorry one more question what do you do to fix it? Like do I try teaching her different? Does she have to take medicine.?

She takes Focalin XR 10mg. It helps her focus.
