Every female body is different but for me I never got pregnant with the Depo shot but you have to go every 3 months it's a little hassle but I never got pregnant and don't want no more kids but my baby girl so I understand

Also call planned Parenthood ask because I'm 19 and they were making an exception to get my tubes tide with them I changed my mind in case I change my mind way later

I have a copper IUD (Paraguard) and I love it! I had them snip the strings short so I and my partner don't feel it. My periods are actually better, and because it is non hormonal the way it works is that the copper kills sperm on contact. IUD's hormonal and non hormonal are the next best to getting your tubes tied. Our pregnancy was accidental despite, birth control (taken religiously within the same hour every day for over two years) spermicide, cycle tracking, and herbs because we did NOT want to get pregnant this early because I am in nursing school and my fiancé is starting up his own business. But, we did anyway despite 3 syndromes and disorders that are supposed to render me LESS fertile. I believe the reason why this all did not work is because one of the syndromes is a hormonal disorder. So, with my main form of protection (birth control) being hormonal, I think something went funky. Just a thought. So, I'm not chancing it this time. The only reason why I did not get an IUD before is because they can be extremely painful to put in if you have never given birth (aka cervix has never been stretched) At 6weeks postpartum I had mine put in (100% covered by my insurance) and it was only mildly uncomfortable. It is so freeing to not have to designate time out of everyday to think about! The copper IUD's are good up to 10 years, although I will have mine removed in a little less than four so we can start trying for our second!

@hippiemummy Definitely ask doc to trim strings short if possible it makes extraction (hopefully when you want or 10 year period) difficult but will make your life a little easier as I have friends who say their strings bothered them or their partners Also know for some it makes periods heavier and more painful (I have opposite experience though my periods used to be super heavy and painful now regular)
