so apparently my son’s pediatrician can’t take my son anymore because of his healthcare plan. i’m literally sobbing, i can’t do anything right. can’t even keep my son’s doctor. ppl w/ medicaid, is there any way to change your plan after they’ve already chosen one for you? or is there a certain time you can change it? i don’t qualify for the special circumstance changes so that’s out of the question. idk what to do

What type of Medicaid do you have, call them they can find you a new pcp

You can change it but they give you a date that you can change it by. It may have been by June 30 but just check into it

@n_favors, yeah i think the date already passed. it just sucks they didn’t give me a choice of which plan i could choose, they just kinda put him on there

Yea they choose one for you but give you a certain amount of time to choose another one if you want to. Contact your main office and see if you can change b4 next yr.

This happened with my own primary doctor they told me they were no
Longer taking Medicaid and to switch to something else and I’m like well I can’t because I don’t qualify for anything else ( I’m poor and I can’t afford any other health coverage) so I just found another doctor. But I feel you if it was my sons doctor I would be upset too because I really like her and she knows my son. my son has a insurance through his father so there’s no way I can switch to anything else. So I wouldn’t really have any choice. :/ but I’d call just to see what your options are maybe if your willing to pay a little you can switch to something and keep the same doctor. I’m not really sure how it works.

When I did for my son my ob suggested someone and he's great but other than that I think they'll just send you a list to pick from but if you find one that accepts the insurance ahead of time either they'll call to connect to your medicaid or you can call and give them their info. With switching my sons dental I just arrived and they called for me but I'm not sure if it's different since that was for dental

If it’s the way it is here in WA then yes you can change it at any time. The new plan won’t start for 30 days but it can be changed there should be a list of options! I had to change mine just to keep mine and my sons doctor! Here in wa you don’t need a special circumstance to change the actual plan itself. Good luck mamas 💗
