I’m guessing she was adopted already. Was this a dog you had your eye on or a dog you owned before?

I volunteered as an adoption specialist at a humane society for many years and now volunteer with a rescue group, so I know a fair bit about the process. It can vary by shelter, but the most likely reason for removing a listed animal is that they've been adopted.

However, sometimes they are pulled because information was posted incorrectly or something has changed (a health issue arises, they are moved to a new foster home, etc.). Your best bet is to call the shelter and see, an employee or volunteer can usually let you know if she's already been adopted or if something else is going on.

She must have been adopted already or has a potential family pending. Usually it means they're adopted out though. Is there a phone number you could call for more info?

@ek620 yes! @sarahmartinez817 my cousin called and talked to them and said she seen her on the website and shes beautiful and that she'll be in , in the morning to see her. Not sure if they pulled her off the site for that reason. Would they?@swedishmomma yes there is a number ill call in the morning. They where closed by time i figured out that she could possibly be adopted already.

For both the humane society and the rescue I've worked with we don't pull down an animals info until we actually have an adoption application in for the pet, not just based on a phone call. But every shelter works differently, so it could be possible. I'd call in the morning just to make sure.

@sarahmartinez817 thank you! Im praying about it but im honestly so nervous that someone already adopted her. Its going to be so hard to sleep tonight. I absolutely can't imagine life perminitly without her. Its already been a really hard 16 days. :( she looks so sad in her adoption picture. I know she misses us terribly and im just so heartbroken that she went threw this. I'd never want anything to happen to her.

Update? Did you find out if your dog was adopted?

@mimixtmn she is not adopted they are taking applications only and will pick out the best one for her.

@angelbrownell26, did you apply? If you have any close friends or family that would apply for you too because in your situation they are likely to not choose you due to the circumstances.
