What do you do when you're within your first 90 days of work and your child gets a fever of 104, recovering from pink eye since he's last been to daycare and no other available babysitter? As of today I'm now sick myself & feeling like crap while caring for my prince. They told me after today's call out if I have to call out again I will no longer be employed. Doctor said no daycare for 24 hours after a fever once it drops. Any advice? Im a first time mom and never been fired before.
@mamaways, oh man. I think it should. Maybe look into it because that’s their policy!! Wish you the best of luck.
@tavia.plummer I'm not a union and haven't been there that long. Im a new hire. I don't think this can work for me.
You can send me a private message if you have to. I’d be more than happy to answer anymore questions.
@mamaways, i literally used to work for food lion so here’s the scope. Food lion can not except doctors notes. Which means if you say your sick or baby is sick and needs to go to the doctor and miss daycare they have to approve it. They can not fire you! If they try to you can take it to the hire up people and file a claim against them.
@lpheartsyou it's Food Lion. I used to work at Harris Teeter. The manager I have now is like " oh well it is what it is, we are short handed and sick or not you only get one call out" 😞
@ladyblauvelt.skysmomma that's what my dad suggested i do. I think if I was to quit rather than being fired that would be better when looking for a new job. We really need the money even though its not much at all with no benefits. I don't know when I'll be able to find another especially when I can only work when daycare is available. Most jobs want open availability.
@akita_mommy 😂😂😂 I work in the deli department. Which is also insane that they'd have me around food sick smh. My last job accepted doctors notes even if your child was sick.
@mamaways when it comes to being a parent, jobs need to work with you too. Quitting with good reason is better than being fired and what's the point in working for a job and dealing with worrying about being fired when it comes to yours or your sons health when the job doesn't even pay well?
