I’m dreading going back to work. I work in healthcare under a nurse and right now at my work their is no nurse! The new one they hired is on maternity leave so the psws are doing everything! Which is crazy because the meds we administer need to be second signed by an RPN. So crazy. And unsafe for the residents and unfair to the staff.

What’s a PSW or an RPN I’m an RN and Canadian never heard of this..please don’t do anything outside your scope as in the end it falls on you. ❤️❤️

How is that legal? As psw's we arwnt trained to work with meds but with people... id call the ministry it cant be legal to have no nurse

@lii94, where I am psws can do meds. We do a special course called UCP. It allows us to administer meds. But if someone has a new prescription and when the weekly meds get delivered it has to be second signed by a nurse.

@lii94, yea it’s a lot more responsibility but I love it! And no it’s not right that there’s no nurse. As ucps your allowed to do the things you do because your working under a nurses licence and their responsible for you and the things your doing.

@maddoxsmama, Makes sense now here their called RCA’s. Here anything an RCA would do falls under my authority and license, but we rarely have them in L&D but a huge help when we do.
