She will need medicine and so will you since you’re breast feeding. It’s basically a yeast infection in the mouth.

She has white spots on one part of her gums that look like budding teeth ? I'll call pedi for sure

Does her breath stink? Might not be thrush.

My son had a white tongue for 3 months before we had him seen and the Dr found out he had a posterior tongue tie (more common than people realize) and his tongue never reached the top of his mouth to clean it. Got it laser released and the white was gone as well as a bunch of other negative things!

I know I’m late to this post, but just wanted to share with you and @valerie_jean that you don’t treat it with antibiotics. Antibiotics are actually known for causing vaginal yeast infections, which is what thrush is, just in the mouth. Some of the creams people use sometimes contain a small percent of an antibiotic cream like bacitracin, but that’s not specifically for thrush, it’s really just to cover all the bases so you can use that cream for bacteria as well as fungus like thrush. If it is thrush, you won’t be able to wipe it off with a wet cloth, and it’ll look really thick. Your daughters pedi will write a script for nystatin which is an antifungal. It’s oral liquid and you’ll prob give it three times a day (I think that’s how often my daughter got it?) It’s sweet and doesn’t have a bad taste so it should be easy for baby to take. Sometimes the whole prescription won’t take care of it, so you may end up needing another script after that. There’s also a homeopathic treatment called gentian violet, but I chose to go to my daughters pedi first. Since your breastfeeding, you’ll also want to treat yourself so you don’t get it. (Signs that you do have it would be a pain radiating from your nipple straight back, redness, inflammation, shiny or flakey skin.) Call your OB/midwife. Even if you don’t have any symptoms yet, they’ll still write you a script. It’ll be cream you apply to your nipples a few times a day and just wash off before nursing. Sorry to send SO much, I just wanted to make sure you got all that info because my daughter and I passed thrush back and forth for a long time and her pedi didn’t really give me any good info on it, so I did lots of research.
