Have any of you been in a situation when it’s just you, your husband and your toddler and you have a baby due? I don’t have any family near by (they’re in NY and I’m in VA) so I’ll be going through labor and delivery alone depending on the time of the day that I go into labor. I’m nervous about being alone, but I want my husband to pay attention to our son so he won’t see me in pain and panic.

Talk to the hospital you are to deliver at. Sometimes the nurses will take the toddler into the waiting room while you push them bring him back when you are done. Bring a tablet to let him play with it while you are in labor so you don’t have to be alone. My two year old and husband stayed with me the whole time I was at the hospital.

Is there anyway that a family member from NY can come over before your due and help y’all out?

@bigmama18, I’m definitely packing an “entertainment” bag for my toddler. I’m going to call the hospital later this week and see what they will and won’t do.

@tyvae, I think most are pretty accommodating because they know there are situations just like this or single moms with no one else to watch their kids. I hope they will let you.

@tota., the only hard part about that is that I had my son 2 weeks early and I’m not sure if I’ll have this baby early also. It’s an 8 hr drive for them to get to me, so I may have had the baby by the time that they would get here.

@josefa, I may have one of my coworkers come watch him at the hospital if we can’t figure something else out. But I wasn’t sure if I could find an emergency sitter, I’ve been searching.

This is my situation right now! But sad thing is my mom live 5 mins away, dad lives 30mins away && gmom lives about 15-20 and it’s always been just me , my boyfriend and our son since 2014 .... so my boyfriend will be in the room while I’m getting the C section && his mom is coming from NY to stay with our son for the few hours Cause I need to be there by 5:30am && he wakes up around 9am then she will bring him to the hospital ... && then they are gonna switch my boyfriend will stay with our son when it’s time to go home and his mom will stay with me in the hospital because I felt more comfortable with my son staying with him than staying with my mom or something ...

@taegwaltney95, man idk I think I’m just going to have my coworker watch my son. He loves her and her husband. It’s a stressful situation. I wish you luck.
