I swear I'm gonna get this boy potty trained some how but it's so hard not to be mad when I ask him…

Can I make a suggestion? Stop ASKING if he has to go pee, instead TELL him that's it time to go pee. Worked for my daughter who is subborn.

@badkitty4, I started with that approach and it made him hate/afraid of the potty so I backed off of that.

I used to have to get on to my twins when they intentionally peed or pooped in the house and they started learning to go to the bathroom. It took maybe a week and they were fully potty trained and in panties 24/7, I know some people say not to take that approach but it was the only one that worked for us.

Have you tried using a timer? Set it for every 20 to 30 minutes and whenever it goes off take him to the potty. Bribe him with something every time he complies, whether he goes potty or not. This stuff worked for us, but it still took time for him to catch on and become bathroom independent after he got the hang of the general potty concept.

@optimusprimesmom, we do a timer but it's hard bcuz when he doesn't want to he physically will not stay on the potty and he gets change in his potty bank every time he even sits on the potty but I might have to try something else bcuz it doesn't seem to motivate him much.

@kelseycraftymommy don't despair. Every kid gets it at their own pace. It took probably a good 6 months to get my son fully potty trained and in underwear, and we tried just about every method Google had to offer. One day it just clicked for some reason and we've been good ever since.

@optimusprimesmom, Im hoping it clicks for him soon he'll be 3 in October and I know every kid is different and don't want to rush him but I feel like every time we see family there judging me for not having him potty trained yet 🙄

I agree with making him go every 20-30 mins. I didnt focus on night time potty training when i first potty trained my son, it was strictly for when he was awake. Weather he cried, pouted, threw a fit he was gonna sit on the potty. He just didnt like being taken away from play time. I didnt give him treats for just sitting on the potty, but every time he actually went while on the potty i gave him 1 M&M. Worked for us.
