Mmm... Its hard but I believe children respond to the names we give them. Talk to him and tell him he can still choose the name, but of someone worthy or with a beautiful meaning.

@memybumpandi I am hoping he can just come up with something he likes. I think he just wants to seem like there's more behind the name if that makes sense. Because I named our 1st born and her name is very meaningful to me.

Can you do a variation of the grandma's name so it's not the exact same? Maybe you can use a feminine version of your husband's name to honor him? Just trying to throw out some suggestions for you. At the end of the day, if it's important to him I'd go with it, but maybe you can find a solution that makes you both happy. Good luck!

@wafflespancakes I like the idea of using a feminine version of my husband's name for him, I never thought of doing anything like that. I might be able to work up something with that lol let's see if I can get him on board. If not I'm just going to quietly cross my fingers and hope for a boy 😂

I talked to my husband when we had a very similar issue with a name and by the time I had finished he was on my side and said he hadn't thought of it in the way I was thinking of it but once I explained it he totally saw the problem. It's worth a try.

@mct We definitely need to talk about it more. I had to drop the conversation in the moment because I didn't want to say anything hurtful. But we'll definitely resume it tomorrow.

I think it’s only fair he gets a say in this girls name since you got the first it’s just a middle name and it might actually mean a lot to him

@annarizzo123 He should get a say in his child's name I totally agree. He did choose the 1st name which was great because I surprisingly liked it. But I'm definitely not comfortable naming my child after a criminal. He had to call his mom to ask her what his grandmother's name was, so I don't really see where the meaning behind this is coming from. But again, I do need to speak to him more about it, I cut the conversation short to avoid saying anything hurtful in the moment.

@annarizzo123 Nope! My husband's family is not involved in our lives aside from his one brother. And I haven't told my family yet. My husband was away for my entire 1st pregnancy and also missed the birth of our daughter, so we really just wanted to enjoy this ourselves and keep everything very private.

@emily526, I didn’t tell my family I had another he’s two months old so def not judging my family isn’t involved they hardly contact me my mother met my 3 year old twice and I’ve had enough she would tell me to lie to her boyfriend and say she was at my house when she was cheating on him smh so I blocked her from my lfie

@annarizzo123 Sounds like my MIL lol she's met my daughter 3x I believe, and that was really just my husband trying to get her involved. Other than that she only contacts us to ask for money. I have no issues with my family, but I just wasn't in the mood to make an announcement or anything like that. I just wanted to enjoy this time with my husband since he had been away for over a year.

I’m sorry, but I would absolutely refuse to name my child after the grandma. He didn’t even know her name 🤦🏻‍♀️ that’s reason enough lol. No in all seriousness, he had no emotional connection to his grandmother, so no.

@dee2115 That's what I'm trying to say but in a nice way. I don't want him to think I'm dismissing his ideas. But I think he can come up with something different. I think it's stemming from he is upset his family really isn't involved at all and he wants them to be but they're not coming through. So I think he's trying to find meaning where there is none. It doesn't even have to be meaningful maybe just a name he likes.
