You can go to 42 weeks before an induction.

There are some that are for genuine medical reasons.

Others are because there are outdated doctors who believe 37 weeks is term and when Mom “can’t deal” anymore, they offer.

Some are uneducated moms who go along with outdated doctors because the last few weeks are miserable and they fail to, or don’t care to, educate themselves on the importance of the last few weeks.

My doctor with my youngest wouldn't induce unless medically necessary until 41+5 or more. I didn't even consider asking it was just something brought up in normal conversation around 40 weeks. I went to 40+3 with her.

Most drs now will not until 40 weeks unless a medical reason. My dr did mine a few days before my due date because if she didn't my husband would have missed the birth and she felt bad for me lol ended in my second csection because he was stuck.

They usually only schedule inductions that early if they're high risk... you're not full term until at least 39 weeks.

I had one scheduled at 38 weeks for 39 weeks. I was due New Years Eve and my insurance went out the first of the year so he was nice and let me be induced the 26th. Lincoln was almost 9lbs so he said it was probably good I had him early so he wasn’t even bigger.

Induction wasn’t brought to my attention until i was hypertensive. Induction sucks i would never want to be induced again.

YES..! Do not do it unless it’s medical necessity. I told my doctor I was not gone do it and baby came up fine on his own.! I am 39 yrs old and had complications.

I opted for induction about a week before my due date. Some doctors won't do it. There's nothing wrong with it as long as your already full term.

I didn’t get induced until 42 weeks with my third daughter!
