I think theres a fine line between controlling your partner and respecting/discussing what are the boundaries of your relationship. Trust is key here, while I wouldn't say "my so doesn't allow me" to do something (hypothetical so, I'm single lol) I would say if my and my SO agree something does not make each other comfortable, we wouldn't do it

It's actually really sad, I honestly feel bad for any woman in that kind of relationship ?

Me too, that seems like a very unhappy situation. I can't imagine that feeling of oh no should I be doing this, is he gonna be mad or I'd better ask first. It must be a terrible spot to be in. I just don't think I could live that way.

I have been in that kind of relationship. Unfortunately you don't always realize how unhealthy the relationship was until you are out of it.

Very sad! I know someone in a relationship like that and she isn't going anywhere. It's been over 12yrs and it's sad.

I think different things work for different people. I personally could not handle someone Allowing me to do something or not.
I think like pp said sometimes being respectful of your partner and being allowed are very close together though. In the case of the lady who made that post I think she used the wrong words.

Dh's ex fiance cheated on him with a guy she met online. She had her pic on a dating website. She was/is a stupid, dirty hoe bag but that's for a different post. He never said I couldn't go on social media sites but I chose not to have fb or anything out of respect for him. I knew it was a sensitive subject for him & didn't want him feeling anxious when I went online. But I dare him to not allow me to do something. Like pp said, he's my husband not my father.
