Food for thought: perhaps there is beauty in the arguments on momlife. Someone else who cares so much about the well-being of your child that they forget themselves and offer opinions a little too strongly simply because they care. It's another person who as a mom knows the love they have for their child and offers opinions/advice to try to help you protect yours. Another mom who sees your child as something precious. Is there a right and a wrong in these situations? Who knows. Motherhood has never been black and white. There is no book to guide us. We are thrown into this and all of us are working our butts off to do what we pray is right. However, I find the fact that someone who I've never met cares enough to offer an opinion/advice to help my child who they have never met absolutely beautiful. It doesn't mean one mom is wrong or isn't a good mom. It's simply a way that others try to care. Knowing those moms are out there brings me comfort and make me feel a little less alone in this motherhood adventure.

I definitely agree with this post. However I believe there are ways to offer advice and guidance without being condescending and rude. I think a lot of times people get upset and defensive when the comments come across as "OMG I can't believe you would put your child in danger like this, you are such a horrible mother". Imo, it all goes back to this: Treat others how you want to be treated.

Say it a little louder and repeat slowly so they understand!

There are books, research and studies for some of it though! Some of it isn’t a parental choice, it’s a responsibility and more moms/dads need to do their research. That’s part of the job of a parent. Not just winging it and going by what others did and were fine.

@dass72608, those comments are minimal to nonexistent- and I’ve only seen a few AFTER a parent goes on a rant attacking people saying they don’t give a fack about the dangers. The more people keep saying they’re a regular occurrence, the more negativity is brought to ML.

@dass72608 agree....just the tone of voice really makes or breaks the way something comes across.

Never have I ever seen a comment like that...unless the mom attacks.

Good way of looking at it!! I struggle with my mother in law at times and the way in which she gives her input over and over but at the end of the day- I'm happy my son has a Grandma who loves him.

@laniejay instinct yes plays a big part in being a mom....but I agree knowledge is key...gotta be educated and it's so easy now with all the resouces. Taking time to read all sides and forming your own way
